topic posted Sun, October 23, 2005 - 3:37 PM by  Caeli
All of you Harry Potter fans, the time comes nigh, Nov. 18th is the day the movie officially opens, and I know quite a few of you have mentioined that you all wanted to go see it , and thought a group viewing would be nice. So I will ask those of you here, who would like to go see it? Sound off!

Also, since I happen to be blessed with the first 3 movies, I will try to have a Harry Potter movie night in anticipation of the new movie coming out. Details on that to come. Most likely, it will be a Friday. More to come later. But please, sound off. Let me know who would like to come! I will be happy to orchestrate travel and such for a larger group.

  • Gah! I've been busy all week, hon. New job jockeying a register at a liquor store, an upcoming nightclub event I'm part of running(shameless plug: tribes.tribe.net/brnightclub ), a couple of other promotions I'm still working for in some capasity, answering a booty call here and there, taking care of my baby girl, hijacking DJ booths in order to spin music, staying caught up with my favorite tv shows, huff, huff huff!!! So yeah, I'd like to come watch some Tim Hunt..err I mean Harry Potter movies. Can I bring my baby girl to watch them too? Heck, she loves Farscape, maybe she'll this.
    • How old is your baby? Because, this latest, will be really violent! This is where Harry meets Voldemort, and people die. Amonst other things like scary dragons and merpeople and all.
      • She's almost two. And I thought there was going to be a viewing of the first three movies, at someones house, which would be appropiate for her. She isn't movie theather age in my mind yet. And definately not ready for goblet of fire ether.
        • My Jasmine is going to be 4 soon, and yeah, she didnt start sitting in a theater untill she was about 3 1/2. (we still have issues now unless its something she likes (like HP or LoTR go figure gammer chick already))

Is there a consensus on where you all are going to view it? Chris and I want to see it and we're debating on where we should see it. :) (it might be my congrats prize for winning a contest this next weekend (yeah ok so I'm hopeful..))

          • Well seeing the first 3 movies would be at my place. The seeing of the actual movie has not yet been commented on as I put it out to the people of this list. However, the choice is easily put. We can see it here in the EB, or we could see it in SF. If we see it there, I would like to see it on the IMAX screen. I know it is a little more expensive, but seeing those scenes of Harry in the Tournament on a screen that big, is bound to make an impression on the senses. Yet, still, I am leaving that descision up to the people of this list. EB or SF?

Oh and congrats on your contest winning!
        • Um yeah, movie theater for a 2y/o bad idea I think. But you could bring her over for the 3 others if you think that she can handle the subject matter. Again, HP isn't the most benign of stories.
          • Ok, here is what I think. Nov. 11. I will have the prequal movie night. I will start it at 6:30pm. That seems to me to give people enough time to get home from work and get here. I also want to start it early because, well, there are 3 prequals! Jason, sorry if this is the night of your thing. I can't help it. I really don't have another option at this point. What with Dickens workshops and whatnot... so yeah. 6:30 pm Fri. Nov. 11. We can all discuss where we want to see the new one at the time everyone is together.

I will have onhand sodas and chips. We will probably have to take a collection to get food though. Pizza or something of the like I think will work for a dinner option. Unless we want to make this a pot luck...

            What do you think?
            • Wow... I'm about 3 months behind in tribe mail... I almost missed all of this wonderful discourse. I have my son (age 5) this weekend, so I can be there on Friday with him...
              • Damn. Not 3 hours after I posted, Nicky's mom calls me to inform me that he's been invited to a birthday party in Brentwood from 5:30 to 7:30 on Friday, and that it's his best friend from Kindergarten... looks like we'll have to miss the movie night, or arrive after 9 (he'd definitely fall asleep on the way, and he does NOT do well when awakened). Rats!
  • I am getting a Colonoscopy on Friday, November 11th and I am not sure if I can make it. But if I do, I can bring my Colonoscopy Video.

    • Ok all, sorry to put a damper on things, but as I had stated in a new post from this original. that I have to be at class that evening. So really, I was smoking some kind of crack when I offered this. What I can do, is make it for this Sunday 11/13 evening after I get back from Dickens workshops. If this is cool with everyone, then we can start the evening off at around 7. Sound good?
      • Well crap, that means I won't be able to go now as I have a prior commitment.
        • Sorry! I am a bab, bad girl!
          • A bab, bad girl? wtf?
            • Oh pooh on you Johnny, of you can't read through a mistype!

I solenmly swear that I am up to no good!

Any way, been talking it over with Jason. He and a bunch of his friends have kindly asked if they could view the prequals on Wedneday (this coming 11/16) at his place. I have agreed to this, and so now the new new viewing day time for the HP prequals is 11/16, at 7 pm. He says that he will have snacks and what not. Oh! And btw, he lives in SF. So that is where the viewings will be held.

Here is the deal, if you want to see the prequals, let me know, and I will forward you the information on how to get to his house, and give you his cotact information. Once that is done, if you plan on attending, RSVP to either me or Jason by at least sometime Wed. afternoon. If you happen to know you have food restrictions, please think ahead, and make sure that you are taken care of (ie. bring your own). I don't expect Jason to have food restrictive snacks. So let me know soon, so we can have a total head count. Thanks!
